Biography
Family Planning Victoria’s focus is health care, education and advocacy in sexual and reproductive health. Our Action Centre provides confidential health care, information and support for people under 25, including same-sex attracted and gender non-conforming young people. We offer help with sexuality, safer sex and sexual abuse, as well as testing and treatment for sexually transmissible infections and blood borne viruses.
Through our Action Centre, we run YAK, a social support group for same-sex attracted and gender non-conforming young men and women. Some members identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or queer and some are unsure of their sexual identity or don’t want to label themselves. We provide a safe place for members to meet twice a month on Friday evenings to talk about issues affecting their lives. In addition to YAK, we can also refer people to relevant support groups in their area.
